Peter Sauber has announced he is transferring a third of the stake in the Sauber Group to CEO Monisha Kaltenborn.

Sauber, the founder, team principal and president of the board, will retain the other two thirds.

India-born Kaltenborn, 41, was appointed CEO of the Swiss squad in 2010, following BMW's exit from Formula 1.

"When BMW pulled out of Formula 1 in 2009, Monisha was instrumental in the team's survival and since then she has been doing outstanding work in her capacity as CEO," said Sauber. "Transferring one third of the stake to her represents an important step for me in providing continuity.

"My desire is to ensure that the company continues to be led as I would want over the long term. Monisha Kaltenborn and my son Alex, who joined the company as Marketing Director in 2010 and has since also been a member of the Board of Management, both embrace this aim. It means we can offer our employees a positive outlook for the future."

Kaltenborn added: "For me this step is a mark of the greatest possible trust, which I will do everything in my power to justify."

Sauber me opet iznenađuje. Koriste isti motor i mjenjač kao Ferrari, ali gledajte koliko su oni oslobodili mjesta otraga da zrak nesmetano ide prema difuzoru

Sauber is a realistic contender for victory in today's Belgian Grand Prix, according to team CEO Monisha Kaltenborn.

Kamui Kobayashi lines up second on the grid, the Sauber team's first front row start as a fully-independent team since Jean Alesi at the 1999 French Grand Prix, with Sergio Perez fourth.

The Sauber-Ferrari C30 has shown consistently strong race pace over the season, but its results have often been compromised by disappointing qualifying performances, something that will not hold the Swiss team back at Spa.

"From this position, everything is realistic, even going right to the top," Kaltenborn told AUTOSPORT. "But this is determined by many factors that are not under our control.

"We will definitely try to make the most of it. It puts you at a very different starting point, where you don't have to make your way through the field as you do if you start P15. If you start in front, you can really utilise the potential of the car."

Kaltenborn believes that having both drivers potentially in the mix for victory will offer it a wider range of strategic options.

Provided both drivers are still well-placed after the first lap, it would be possible to opt for alternative strategies with its two drivers.

"This is something that we have not done often enough in the past," said Kaltenborn. "Normally, we had one car somewhere further up and the other at the back.

"But this will allow us to look at many different strategies with ideas of how to strategically place the cars."

Kaltenborn is certain that Sauber has nothing to fear from drivers from the traditional top teams which start from lower grid positions.

While she does not expect it to be easy, she believes that the car has shown representative speed relative to the rest.

"We have now been able to make the most of this car and have a good qualifying," said Kaltenborn. "But there are some very strong teams [starting behind] that are very good in the race.

"They have also shown a good level of performance this year. We won't be laying back and saying that with these positions, points are absolutely sure and we will have to be careful that they don't come through and overtake us."

Ja mislim da će bit netko od trojca Gutierrez, Bianchi, Frijns.
Peter Sauber voli dat priliku novim mladim talentima, ima nos za to (kimi, massa, perez).
a i ništa se još ne govori o kobayashiju za sljedecu sezonu, možda i njega zamijene..

Mislim da je Sauber siguran za dobar bolid dogodine, osim ako nešto ne uprskaju. Pravila su manje-više stabilna u prijelazu sa 2012 na 2013 (osim grbe na nosu i DDRS- kojeg Sauber nema, a dogodine je zabranjen). Ako nešto gadno ne promaše onda od njih očekujem još bolji bolid nego ove godine. Ekipa očito kao i kroz cijelu svoju povijest ima stabilne financije, imaju najmoderniji zračni tunel koji im ne zadaje probleme, imaju odlično vodstvo i imaju odlično organiziran tehnički odjel koji je i ove sezone uveo neka riješenja koja su drugi kopirali.

I nije baš 99% U Sauberu pak ostaje prazno mjesto, koje bi prema nekim glasinama trebao popuniti Jaime Algersuari.
