Pa Indy je sada na nivou sigurnosti koji je F1 imala u vremenu Jodya Schektera (bar po broju ozljeda i pogibija). Ni ne čudi me što ne želi gledati svoje dijete tamo.

Problem je i u njihovim ovalnim stazama i puno bolida. Da su bolidi F1 na tim stazama i dogodi se takav lančani sudar sigurno i u ovim bolidima netko poginuo. Uz brzinu koji imaju, ogradu pokraj, 30 bolida... F1 danas rijetko (ili ne prelazi) 350 km/h na ravnom, ovi su preko 360 išli na ovalnom dijelu. Poprolično neinteligentno američki složena koncepcija utrkivanja.

Pisao sam na Autosportovom forumu o tome. I ovdje ću.
Problem je u ovalnim stazama. Ide se jako brzo, i jako blizu jedan drugom. Zid je također jako blizu. Ako izgubiš kontrolu nad bolidom udarit ćeš u zid, a on će te vratiti na stazu. U krivini je to veliki problem za vozače iza. Prvo imaju jako malo vremena za reakciju zbog brzine. Drugo i najvažnije je to da ih na stazi u krivini drži centripretalna sila (zbog nakošenosti staze) i jedini pravac gdje mogu pobjeći od nesreće je pravo ispred sebe (pravo u karambol jer zid vrati na stazu vozače koji udare u njega) ili u zid. Prema dole ne mogu osim ako drastično ne uspore (zbog centrifugalne sile), a uz to aerodinamički grip je premal da bi se moglo jače skrenuti na velikim brzinama. Svi preduslovi za strašan krš su ispunjeni. Samo je pitanje vremena kada će se desiti. Tako valjda Ameri zamišljaju utrkivanje. Ne može bez spektakularnih nesreća.

India unveils F1 track

India unveiled the new $400 million Buddh International Circuit on Tuesday, promising to wipe away disappointing memories of last year's Commonwealth Games.

Fears that the 5.14km (circuit in Greater Noida on the outskirts of New Delhi would not be completely ready were put to rest after a grand inauguration of the facility.

The Commonwealth Games, which were meant to showcase India's status as an emerging global power, instead left memories of unfinished venues and massive budget overruns.

"The Commonwealth Games forced us to bow our heads in shame," Manoj Gaur, chairman of race promoters, the private Jaypee group, said at a press conference.

"We took the Formula One project as a challenge. We decided that we will make the track so impressive that the shame of the Commonwealth Games will be forgotten and our pride will be restored in the world."

The track is part of an ambitious 2,500-acre sports complex that will include a motor driving academy to be set up in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz.

The circuit has been designed by German architect Hermann Tilke and boasts the fastest straight-line of any F1 track in the world.

Indian Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan, a member of the HRT team, showered praise on the facility.

"I have raced on all the major F1 tracks across the globe and I rate this track as one of the best in the world," said Karthikeyan, who hopes to get a drive before the 100,000 fans who are expected to attend the race weekend.

The fans will also be treated to other entertainment, including first-ever performances in the country by US heavy metal outfit Metallica and pop sensation Lady Gaga.

"We are trying to make the race a unique experience for the fans," said Gaur. "It is a question of India's prestige in the world. We have tried to make a small contribution to ensure that this investment is fruitful for all."

Gaur said tickets for the race were close to being sold out, except a few corporate boxes which range between 3.5 million rupees ($70,000) and 10 million rupees.

He also dismissed threats by some local groups of farmers to disrupt the race if their demands for better compensation in exchange for their acquired land were not met.

"We have worked here with complete co-operation from local people," Gaur said. "We are more than hopeful of hosting a peaceful race. It will be 100 percent successful."

yep..

ja nekako jedva cekam tu utrku, iako ne volim bas indiju nit chandoka kojeg ce bit svud naokolo sljedeci vikend :) , al staza mi se nekako cinila oke..

sad kad gledam.. a bo.. bojim se da nije ni ovo staza za trkanje..
iako zanimljivih zavoja ima..

vozio sam je na F1 2011 i izgleda zanimljivo, za voziti.
Ima onaj dugački pravac na kojem će biti DRS i koje nudi dobro mjesto za pretjecanje. Nakon toga slijedi serija zanimljivih brzih zavoja ( čini se ko stvoreni za Red Bull) mene na prvi pogled podsjećaju na prvi sektor Suzuke.
Sve u svemu, OK staza ali sa jednim realnim mjestom za pretjecanje, to je onaj pravac.

Radical changes to engine maps for 2012 give power back to designers


In the last 24 hours it appears that a clarification has gone out from the FIA’s Charlie Whiting to all teams regarding exotic engine maps, to the effect that they aren’t allowed after the end of this 2011 season.

Many engineers I’ve spoken to are rejoicing, because they feel that at last there is clarity on exhausts having an aerodynamic effect by continuing to blow over aerodynamic surfaces while the car is in corners. The feeling is they can all get on with designing a nice F1 car for next year, without worrying about how engine modes are going to factor into the aerodynamics.

Blown diffusers are already banned from next year, with exhausts set to exit above the engine cover, but the designers were still going to find ways to get the exhausts to blow across the lower element of the rear wing to generate extra downforce in the corners and now it looks like all exhausts will be allowed to do is blow out gas at high pressure when the driver has his foot on the throttle.

Whiting tried this summer to do something about engine maps and blown diffusers, but it got a bit diluted after Renault and Red Bull complained that it would affect their reliability. The situation evolved, via a messy one off arrangement at Silverstone, and ended up with a compromise, which was in the best interests of getting through the season.

But now a new wording has gone out for next year, which apparently simplifies things. Let’s hope it sticks.

It really has been amazing how much downforce the blown diffusers have generated, as the teams have perfected them; probably 20% more than was envisaged by Pirelli when they designed their tyres and certainly more than enough to take the cars back to and beyond the levels of downforce in the double diffuser days.

Meanwhile Mercedes have got everyone talking with what amounts to an F Duct front wing, which takes in air through the nose of the car and blows it out across the plane of the wing.

Other teams are not clear on the benefits of this line of development and may not leap in to copy Mercedes.

Interestingly, on the subject of front wings, what some teams have found recently is that, with the soft rubber from which Pirelli is making tyres, the “marbles”, or bits of loose rubber that shred off the tyres are forming in clumps in the gaps between the elements of the front wing, causing a loss of several points of downforce.

ideja o blowingu :) mi ne lezi nikako.. neznam tocno zas, posto je to znacajan napredak i puno doprinosi, al meni je draze "normalno" ponasanje auta.. a i od ovih zvukova u zavojima se jezim..

jesam malo spavao ovu noc, al evo citam 2 put i dalje mi ni jasno - oce prdit il nece? il to jos nije definitivno definirano?

Vjerovatno ce zvučat kao u britaniji , nece prdit al ce ipak izgarat neki plinovi na kraju auspuha valjda ..

neće biti prdekanja i sličnih nebloza jer su takve mape nakon ove sezone zabranjene.

Formula 1 is set to have two grands prix in the United States from 2013, with plans for a race around the streets of New Jersey expected to be confirmed as early as next week.

Although F1 is returning to the US for the first time next year with an event in Austin, Texas, Bernie Ecclestone has made no secret of the fact that he would like another event in the country - with his preferred location being New York.

Ecclestone told AUTOSPORT last year: "It's happening. We are talking to them and trying to do our best. Let's see what happens."

High level sources have revealed that the plans have now reached fruition, and an announcement is expected to be made by New Jersey governor Chris Christie and other local politicians next week.

It is understood that the New Jersey GP will take place in June 2013, so it can be a back-to-back race with Canada, which will then leave the Austin event to keep its place at the tail end of the schedule to tie up with the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Last year, the Mayors of Weehawken and West New York revealed that they were in the preliminary stages of talks with a group of investors, led by former YES TV Network executive Leo Hindery Jr, to hold a grand prix in the area from as early as 2013.

It is not confirmed where the track will be, but it is likely to run along the banks of the Hudson River - using the waterfront and the iconic Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that a press conference has been scheduled at Port Imperial in Weehawken for next Tuesday, where an announcement could be made.
o ne opet amerikanci, o ne opet ulična trka :doubt:

moje je mišljenje da ako je već potrebna još jedna ulična utrka da je onda najbolje da to bude u SAD-u. Oni imaju smisla za napravit ulične staze. Naravno, bilo je i promašaja, ali zadnjih nekoliko koje su pristupile ChampCar/IndyCar natjecanju su fantastične. Posebno su svi oduševljeni sa zadnjom u Baltimoreu

Još jedna tragedija u motorsportu, ovaj put u MotoGP - nakon sudara, umro je Marco Simoncelli! :(
