Dosta su oni to krugova odvozili

Pa i nije baš nešto puno; 100km sa demo gumama (Silverstone) i 200km (40ak krugova) danas...naspram 1200-1400km Ferari/RBR/McLaren ili skoro 1800km Lotusa.

tih 300km je danas samo. Na shakedownu se teško to može računat pošto se ne vozi sa gumama za utrke, a i mislim da imaju ograničenja u max brzini...

Mercedes has conducted a full day of ‘proper’ testing in private at Barcelona with the new W03 today.

Between them Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher logged over 300kms of running.

It follows a filming or shakedown day at Silverstone last Thursday. But while that was conducted on Pirelli’s demo tyres, today’s test was a pukka test day on race rubber, and there were no mileage restrictions.

In effect the team has gone some way to catching up with rival teams who finished their cars on a normal schedule, and ran at Jerez earlier this month.

Mercedes planned some time ago to use the old car in Jerez, giving itself almost two weeks of extra R&D time before key elements of the W03 were finalised. It also allowed the team to make extra use of ex-Ferrari designer Aldo Costa, who only joined on December 1.

It’s also been suggested that the team wanted to keep a few secrets under wraps for as long as possible.

Although the reduced running with the new car is obviously a handicap – with only the two four day tests at Barcelona still to come – Mercedes won back an extra day with the W03 by using only three of the four available days at Jerez with the old car.

Under the testing agreement, missing that day earned the team a private test, which it utilised today – with no prying eyes and no red flags caused by others to disrupt running.

The team now has all of Monday to work on the car and crunch the data collected today before running again on Tuesday with the rest of the teams – which means it should be in pretty good shape when it joins its rivals…

Norbert Haug has warned that the new Mercedes MGP W03, which will break cover tomorrow, will not feature any dramatic innovations.

Glimpses seen of the car so far show that it features a stepped nose, in common with eight of the other teams to have launched 2012 machinery. But despite speculation that Mercedes' decision to skip the first test might be motivated by a desire to hide an as-yet unseen technical innovation, Haug insists that the priority has been to come up with a well-packaged car rather than pursing any eye-catching new concepts.

"I don't think that your eye will be caught by any big surprises when you see the car during the unveiling," Haug told AUTOSPORT. "But I certainly hope that we have some clever solutions and we have some good ideas incorporated on the car.

"It's a good base to work from and certainly we will not turn the world upside down, but we do need to make a good step [with this car]."

The new car has already taken to the track twice, once during a filming day at Silverstone last Thursday and in a private test at Barcelona yesterday. Haug is hopeful that the W03 will prove the effectiveness of the changes that have been made at the team over the past year, but stopped short of saying it marked a new beginning for Mercedes.

He is determined for Mercedes take on the top three teams, but admitted that this has to be viewed as a long-term project given the intensity of competition.

"I wouldn't say that it's a new start," said Haug. "This car is the product of what we have learned in the last two years.

"We had three podium finishes in the first year, but last year we did not head in the right direction. We had some highs, like the Chinese Grand Prix when the track was front-tyre limited and the performance was a little better. But over the course of the year it wasn't good enough.

"To be a regular contender with Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren is quite a task. We need to learn, we need to develop our team in that direction and I'm sure that we can do that."

The new Mercedes will break cover at Barcelona on Tuesday morning ahead of the start of the second pre-season Formula 1 test.

Pa za sve je isto ako bi i druge ekipe htjele ovo izkoristit.. Ako se sječam je lani Caterham isto napravio i ostao jedan dan više na privatnom testu.

Pa onda je najbolje odradit sve testove sam na stazi

pa ne znam baš da je najbolje.. jer ako je limit 200 km to ispadne nekih 50 krugova (recimo) dok na testiranju može se odradit i 120 krugova u jednom danu..

Kad vidim kako su spakovali bočne stranice i stražnji kraj mislim da smo dobili još jednog ozbiljnog konkurenta za najviše stepenice podiuma ove sezone. Ovo mi do sad izgleda najbolje. Samo se nadam da su uspjeli riješiti svoje probleme s gumama.

Da, da, i meni se čini da se ovdje puno truda uložilo (to ne znači da prije nije)...vidit ćemo kako će to funkcionirat kad bude trebalo.

Mogla bi biti lijepa ova sezona. Kad bi se po izgledu utvrđivala brzina onda bi bila lijepa borba za vrh: McLaren, Ferrari, RB, Mercedes, Caterham, Lotus...a nebi trebalo zaboraviti ni Saubera, Toro Rosso i Williams...ali nije sve u izgledu nažalost...

Mercedes prema ovim fotkama izgleda pre*ebeno dobro! Gotovo zastrašujuće!! Pravo se bojim, još je tu i Michael Schumacher. Ne vjerujem da će baš od prve utrke ( ali tko može znati ) biti jaki, prejaki..... al' eto, još nešto manje od četiri tjedna.....iiiiiiiiii .........

Nadam se da kada je Haug rekao da nemaju Velika iznanadjenja,ustvari mislio na to da imaju manja iznanadjenja,da nebude samo "tresla se gora,rodio se mis".A na sledecoj slici se vide naka vrsta otvora oko izduva,a svakako dominira ova velika povrsina podnice.

Zanimljivo da je ispuh na šasiji ubiti jako daleko od stražnjeg kraja i da je prilično fiksno prema gore napravljen.
Ako se pokaže da usmjeravanje ispuha kao što smo vidjeli razne varijacije u Ferrarija u Jerezu ili kod Red Bulla donose neku prednost bez potpuno nove šasije W03 je u banani.
