Not happy.
Sve u svemu, odličan rezultat za BMW. Staza im je odgovarala, i sasvim pristojan rezultat su ostvarili. Bilo bi i bolje da nije bilo
kočenja od Webberove strane na izlaskuiz bokseva.
It is going to take "a few more weeks" to determine whether the Hinwil based F1 team currently known as BMW-Sauber has found a saviour for the 2010 season and beyond.
In the wake of BMW's announced departure at the end of the season, the German manufacturer recently turned down an offer by minority shareholder and team founder Peter Sauber.
As a consequence, the team could not sign the new Concorde Agreement, and is currently vying for a place on the 2010 grid with several other applicants for the thirteenth pitlane garage.
Team boss Mario Theissen said recently that the process of looking through multiple expressions of interest in the team has just began.
"It will take a few more weeks to have a clear view as to whether we will be able to find a successor who really can take the team through the coming years," he said.
Peter Sauber, the founder and 20% owner of the Hinwil-based Formula One team, has this week been in Malaysia. As previously reported the Malaysian government, already involved with BMW Sauber through its 35m per year sponsorship by the state owned oil company Petronas, might be interested in forming a national Formula One team.
Through the involvement of a Malaysian consortium, it was suggested that the bid could involve either taking over Sauber in the wake of BMW's impending withdrawal, or joining forces with Lotus, Litespeed and Mike Gascoyne in a separate start-up operation.
The new speculation is a combination of the two possibilities: a BMW Sauber takeover with the involvement of the F3 team Litespeed, as well as the well-known F1 engineer Gascoyne and Lotus' new CEO Dany Bahar.
Coinciding with the rumours was the confirmation that Bahar has left Ferrari and will start his new role as Lotus CEO in October.
"I am looking forward to taking on the challenges as CEO of this legendary and iconic company with a peerless motor sport history," said Bahar. "I can't wait to get my plans underway in October."
Lotus is owned by Proton, Malaysia's national car company, and Lotus' current chairman is Malaysian Dato Nadzmi Mohd Salleh.
"With Dany's track record in motorsports and Ferrari, we strongly believe that we have found the right CEO to enhance the Lotus image, brand and reputation as a world class sportscar and engineering company," he said.
Indian group makes bid for BMW Sauber - report
On the back of reports this week that a Malaysian consortium is eyeing BMW Sauber, it has now emerged that a group of Indians is also interested in the Hinwil-based Formula One team.
Citing sources, the Times of India newspaper said "Indian investors have made an application" to buy the Swiss outfit, whose majority owner BMW is pulling out of the sport at the end of the season.
The newspaper said team founder Peter Sauber's offer of 45m euros was earlier turned down by BMW, which would accept about 65m for the team so long as the buyer can also guarantee a three-year spend in the range of 100m.
It is believed the Indian's consortium offer is around the 50m mark.
The report said the Indian deal involved the Swiss former Toro Rosso and Sauber test driver Neel Jani, whose father is Indian.
Jani signed up with an Indian sports management company this week, and in a statement said he is "committed to reaching the pinnacle of motor sport and when I do so, it would
make me even more proud to know I have the support of India.
"My father is Indian and my mother Swiss, so although I've been brought up in Switzerland, my father has always insisted we stay connected to our Indian roots," he added.
Meanwhile, it is rumoured that BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen is disgruntled with his current employer and keen to stay with the Hinwil-based team in its new guise.
The German would not comment on the matter, but prior to the European Grand Prix two weeks ago, Theissen said: "The first priority is to secure the future of the team in my current role with the team and then after the season we can see what will happen to me."
Following the links with Malaysian and Indian investors, yet more possible saviours of the BMW Sauber team have now emerged.
Sport Bild mentioned Kaiser Ritter, a Liechtenstein wealth management firm, whose chief Fritz Kaiser co-owned the Hinwil-based outfit until 1999.
It is said that Kaiser helped secure Petronas as a sponsor and was involved in Sauber's team management until he sold his 30% stake ten years ago.
The publication also said another group of potential investors is from the real estate sector in Luxembourg.
It is said that team boss Mario Theissen, who told Motorsport Aktuell that a Honda/Brawn-style management buyout is not likely, expects imminent decisions about 2010 and "even race wins" next year.
Technical coordinator Willy Rampf also sounds bullish about the future, despite earlier indicating that he will leave Formula One if BMW Sauber folds.
Now, he comments: "I cannot leave my team in a difficult moment."
BMW Sauber is making a fresh push to get the approval it needs to become the 14th team in Formula 1 next year - despite rival Williams blocking plans to allow the grid to expand.
The Hinwil-based team, which will have new owners next year following the withdrawal of BMW from F1, does not yet have a guaranteed slot for 2010.
Its hopes of remaining in F1 rest on either one of the new teams failing to make the grade or on the unanimous approval of other outfits to expand the field to 28 cars.
The latter scenario appeared to have been ruled out at the Japanese Grand Prix when Frank Williams made it clear he would not support any move to allow an extra team in F1.
Despite that blow, BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen revealed in Brazil that negotiations are still ongoing with the FIA and Formula One Management about finding a deal - and he is hopeful Williams' position can be turned around.
"We are in discussions now – we means the future owner, plus Peter Sauber is involved, with the FIA and FOM in order to get a place on the grid," said Theissen at Interlagos. "That is all I can say at the moment.
"Currently we are talking about the 14th position... and the regulations say it needs unanimous support. "
When asked by AUTOSPORT if he believes the team could convince Williams to stop its veto on the plans, Theissen said: "Let's say, I would not understand if Frank really keeps his position as the only opponent.
"F1 needs to get back to proper business and every team sometimes needs support from the other teams, and it will be the other way around as well."
Although there is no firm deadline for BMW Sauber to resolve the issues relating to the extra grid slot, Theissen confessed that the situation was making planning for the future hard.
"There is no strict deadline but apparently it makes life difficult not to have the grid position because the team has to talk to drivers, to sponsors, and without a grid position you cannot really do a deal," he said.
"We expect to be on the grid one way or the other. Plan A would be as a 13th team and Plan B as a 14th team."
